staking a claim.

before I get to it just want to say Big ups to Obama becuase what kind of blogger would I be if i didn't. You know it's time for change when Young Jeezy is convinced to stop rapping about thug motivation and make an album about the recession.
back from that very slight political interuption to things only slightly less pertinent to the confused souls around the world. what do you do when you find out that a prospect you have been mining has a previous stake laid out on it. you have a few options, first and fore most you can go to war, punish the stakeholder until they admit defeat and allow your conquest to be completed. for these fiery soul i hope you have prepared yourself for a time of great strife and sacrifice, and hopefully it turns out to be worth it.

next plausible option is to silently get yours and keep it on the the down low hoping that secret will remain just that. this is a potentially very dangerous move, and can most certainly lead to bad things when the inevitable happens and you secret blows up in your face like a blumpkin gone horribly wrong. if this is your plan i hope to god you have a good disguise. some might call this also trying to have your cake and eat it too, i have been a proponent of trying to have cake and eat it too, starting to realize that its quite a difficult endeavour.

you can also try to negotiate some sort of treaty, or finally you can just back off the hill, and leave things to settle themselves, this is surely the safest route for most everyone, leads to no drama and is also the scenario that plays out the least.
so now that you know your options, how does this even happen... and in case you were still in the dark, i will tell you straight up that i am not talking about mining gold or even any other mineral or metal. im not talking about claiming land in the name of our fore fathers. I am talking about the long and arduous process of dealing with staking some sort of claim on a lucky lady or handsome devil that you have set your sights on. things can get extremely complicated when this happens, we've all seen the sitcoms and rom coms, dedicated to warning us about it but still noone listens. it all starts rather innocently you see a girl or boy you like, you start putting your moves on, maybe get a date, who knows hwo things could go, maybe things stop before you even get to have a date, but your still crushin, maybe things get really serious. maybe you break up. the question becomes at what... if any point is it ok for your homies to try and get the in on the low. this all get fudged up with the added complication that pretty much everyone has an opinion on what is continued to be a good grace period, or is it always going to be "too soon" like a princess diana joke. and really who can tell you who you can love or not.
generally guys, i think we have these things under control a little better in this department, call me sexist, a chauvinist, or a pig, but for the most part a guy doesn't call out claims until he has at least had a little DFM go down, maybe this is all complete hooey and guys just keep things on the DL way more and have good luck with it. but from my experience girls have been known to get a little crazy with these things. going as fair as taking claims on first sight. but then again if there is a such thing as love at first sight then why not?

the problems that arise after is what is much more important. you have to make your choice and live with it sometimes your friend will say they are interested in someone they've barely even met, sometimes after a tough breakup you don't want to ever see someone again but the age old problem of a friend becoming some how involved can be awkward. also if your the person 3rd party of one of these triangles it can really become quite bothersome too because you may actually like the person, not based on a first come first serve basis.

all in all im pretty much of the thought that if its going to bother someone you care about tread very carefully, ill play it a little Canadian style and avoid attempts to conquer friendly territory, i don't need DAT manifest destiny when I'm trying to find da one
